Hey, Mr. Himwich! Do you remember me? I'm Susannah, from your Odyssey Club and Mythology Club way back when? Man, those were the days!
I'm in seventh grade now, and, of course, I'm taking Latin. Everyone at school misses you so much, especially Jacob and me. Mr. Williams left us too; he went to Virginia, but not before teaching a two-week Latin camp! We learned so much there - Roman kings, Greek alphabet, endings for first and second declensions, history of the Roman Empire, Claudius Pulcher, Flavian dynasty (we already knew the Julio-Claudians), some mythology and derivatives. And I memorized a couple of family trees... and, of course, we played a whole lot of Certamen!
Anyhow, everyone here misses you so, so much! You were such an amazing teacher, even though I didn't really have the opportunity to be taught by you other than in the Odyssey and Mythology Clubs. Everyone misses you, and Brock and I have been talking about replicating the Mythology Club to get the younger kids into Latin and maybe even hosting an Odyssey festival.
Oh, and Dr. B is having her Algebra Honors class read "The Number Devil".
I miss you so much, Mr. Himwich, and I wish you would come back!
Gratias tibi ago,
Susannah W.
