“That’s the face of a man who has seen it all.”
Not so. There’s more to come
And it’s not all suffering loss
The mind shedding all
That is not nailed down
Eyes vacant still
Focused on what no one else can see
A sky so blue the light so full
That you can speak only
In single syllables silently
To the coming darkness
As though it were a friend
Passing onto another life
Where there is no sky
But the sky we have become
When at last we have seen it all.
